It was about the same cost as a nice bed, and has held up much better than the ones they'd had before. Of course, that might be because they used to chew on their beds and now I put a stop to that but quick. The reason I made it myself was, like you say, because I couldn't find anything that really went with my office very well. My husband made a little platform with premade legs for it to rest on, and I used one of those kids chair patterns so it looks great with my cottage-cozy office. They have leather beds with sheepskin rugs to lay on under my feet. They also curl up on my over sized chair and make themselves very comfortable. I know, I know. But, yeah, they hang out in the office with me except when I have an important call. Three of them are pretty anti-social and usually stay out of the office, but the other five... Two have laid claim to *me* as bed (one on my lap, and one *behind* me on the chair--as if he were a lumbar pillow) and the other three tend to alternate, mostly prefering the floor where the sun streams in from the window. No beds in the office for 'em, but there's usually at least one catnip ball rolling underfoot. Eight cats. I know, I know.
